Project Overview

The £485 million 3Ts redevelopment in Brighton is transforming the hospital campus, replacing all buildings at the front of the site with a world-class healthcare facility dedicated to Teaching, Trauma and Tertiary care.

Designed to meet the demands of modern healthcare, the new state-of-the-art buildings will upgrade elderly care, general medicine, HIV and clinical infection wards, firmly establishing the hospital as the region’s leading major trauma centre.

The Facility

The new development will deliver 361 beds, with 65% provided in single en-suite rooms to enhance patient comfort, dignity and infection control. The scheme also includes a rooftop helipad and underground parking, supporting critical emergency access and improved site logistics.

The Lighting Control Solution

zencontrol delivered a fully addressable DALI-2 lighting control system throughout the development, managing over 20,000 luminaires. The system incorporates DALI-2 Application Controllers, Relays, PIR sensors and Switch Interfaces to provide intelligent, flexible and energy-efficient lighting control across the site.

System Intelligence & Integration

A powerful graphical user interface enables users to schedule and manage emergency lighting tests, view detailed compliance reports and make system changes via an intuitive, easy-to-use platform. The zencontrol system fully integrates with the Building Management System (BMS) using BACnet, sharing key data including occupancy status and DALI fault information to support efficient building operation.
