Installation of a range of lighting controls at Langley College, supplied by zencontrol, is helping East Berkshire College to reduce its energy costs and carbon footprint by optimising the use of lighting in key areas.
Langley College is the largest campus of East Berkshire College and the centre for most of the main vocational courses, which all have specialist facilities and equipment. The lighting control upgrade has been focused on particular spaces within the College where opportunities for energy-saving had been identified.
In the main, the control strategy uses zencontrol LCM’s connected to zencontrol detectors linked to simple marshalling boxes to provide absence detection and prevent unnecessary use of lighting in unoccupied areas. In areas where there is sufficient penetration of natural daylight, the absence detection is linked with dimming to deliver further energy savings.
In addition, Lighting Control Modules with Scene Set Panels have been installed in the new Lecture theatre, Innovation Lounge, Innovation Lab and some classrooms, which have been refurbished as part of the multi-million pound makeover of the College.
